Features

How does screenshot import work?

Upload a screenshot of any recipe (from Instagram, Pinterest, cookbooks, websites, etc.) and our AI extracts the recipe title, ingredients, steps, cooking times, and more. You can review and edit before saving.

What sources can I import recipes from?

Any source that can be screenshotted: Instagram posts, Pinterest pins, food blogs, cookbook pages, handwritten recipes, Facebook posts, TikTok screenshots, or any website.

How does the plate builder work?

The plate builder lets you create meals by selecting components: protein (chicken, beef, tofu, etc.), starch (rice, pasta, potatoes), vegetable (broccoli, carrots, etc.), and sauce (teriyaki, garlic butter, etc.). It's like a slot machine - spin to randomize or manually select what you want for each day.

Can I still use my own recipes?

Yes! The plate builder is just one way to plan meals. You can also add complete recipes from your library to your meal plan, or manually type in whatever you want to cook.

Can I share with family members?

Yes, Pro subscribers can invite up to 5 family members. Recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists sync in real-time across all family members' devices.

Comparisons

How is SnapMealPlan different from Paprika?

Paprika requires recipe URLs and focuses on recipe storage. SnapMealPlan is built for screenshot import and has a visual plate builder for quick meal planning. Paprika is a one-time purchase ($5) while SnapMealPlan is subscription-based. See full comparison.

How is SnapMealPlan different from Copy Me That?

Copy Me That focuses on URL clipping for recipe collection. SnapMealPlan is built for screenshots and has a component-based plate builder for fast, flexible meal planning. Both have family sharing. See full comparison.

Is SnapMealPlan better than a free spreadsheet?

If you're saving recipe screenshots, yes. Spreadsheets can't extract recipes from images. For meal planning, the plate builder is faster than typing into cells. But if you're just listing meals for the week, a free spreadsheet might be enough. See free alternatives.

Who Should Use SnapMealPlan

Who should use SnapMealPlan?

People overwhelmed by complex meal planning apps. Busy parents who need meal planning in 30 seconds, not 30 minutes. Screenshot savers drowning in Instagram/Pinterest recipes. Decision-fatigued humans who want to hit shuffle and move on. Anyone who values simplicity without sacrificing power.

Who should NOT use SnapMealPlan?

People who don't save recipe screenshots (use Paprika or Copy Me That for URL clipping). People who need nutritional tracking or calorie counting (use MyFitnessPal or Eat This Much). People who WANT complex AI-generated meal plans with detailed prompts (try Eat This Much or Mealime). People on very tight budgets (try free options like Notion or Google Sheets first).

Why SnapMealPlan instead of other meal planning apps?

Most meal planning apps are overwhelming with complex AI workflows, massive recipe databases, and features you never use. SnapMealPlan is anti-complexity: simple enough for daily use, powerful enough for real meal planning. Component-based planning when you want speed, full recipe support when you need detail. Your workflow, your choice.
